MORRELL FINE WINE AND SPIRITS Call 800.96.WINES (800.969.4637) • Visit us at morrellwine.com • Complimentary delivery on all orders over $150 in NY and CT 99 i t A l Y : b r U nello The Mos T b urgundian o F b runello s alvioni is one of the last of Montalcino's old guard. As times, styles and tastes change, what will always remain the same is the prestige of his prized vineyards and the traditional methods Giulio Salvioni employs in the cellar. With the exception of labeling, all work is done by hand to create just four barrels worth of Brunello in each vintage. In lesser vintages, any number of these barrels may be sold as Rosso. This is truly artisanal winemaking, and an experience that no lover of Brunello should ever pass up. ✦ Salvioni Brunello di Montalcino 2011 ML 96 » $130 "I absolutely love what the Salvioni family has created in this vintage...The wine achieves the signature style and elegance that is so unique to Salvioni despite the warm vintage..." (1554127) The u ndeniable c lassic l ocated in Sant'Angelo in Colle, in the south east of Montalcino, which is known for its warm, yet well- ventilated microclimate, Il Poggione's primary goal is always to make wine in the vineyard first, which prepared them well for the summer heat in 2011. With over 300 acres planted to vine, the estate continues to pick and sort by hand. Winemaker Fabrizio Bindocci, adheres to a progressive approach, one which blends tradition with innovation. In 2011, Fabrizio made the decision to nearly cut production in half, and that no Riserva would be bottled. What this means for the consumer is that all of the best fruit went into the limited amount of Brunello di Montalcino that was bottled, making the 2011 Il Poggione Brunello one of the best of the vintage. You won't find the usual 2011 vintage character here. Instead, this is classic Il Poggione, and a bottle that is sure to thrill us for decades. ✦ i l Poggione Brunello di Montalcino 2011 ML 95 » $65 "This is one of my favorite Brunellos from the 2011 vintage."
