Ch A mp A gne c hef de cave, Jean- b aptiste and managing director, f rederic r ouzaud, had set out to create a vintage cuvee from their family-owned vineyards, using 60% p inot n oir from Cumieres and 40% Chardonnay from h autvillers. t his would be a Champagne that was not extremely dry, but rather would express the vineyards and vintage together without the traditionally- added dosage which the region is known for. t hey knew from the beginning that the success of b rut n ature would depend entirely on the character of each vintage. n ow in its second release, we are presented with the 2009 b rut n ature, which is immediately recognizable with its p hilippe s tarck designed label and gift box. While the 2009 is a distinctive wine unto itself, we were stunned by the remarkable similarities to r oederer's iconic Cristal.
