Welcome to the 2016 Morrell Catalog, a body of work that was an entire year in the making. From the day that our last guide was sent to the printer, we knew that in order to deliver something more, we would need to go the extra mile. In 2016, the team at Morrell traveled into the cellars of Burgundy, Italy, California and Oregon to bring to you the most comprehensive and engaging guide to the world of wine that we could possibly imagine. We talked vintages with winemakers and farmers, toured hail and frost damaged vineyards, and tasted across a broad spectrum to assure that the selection within these pages was worthy of our approval and your collection. This year proved to be an exploration of the world's diversity in wine. While the tried and true regions of France, Italy and California continue to produce many of today's greatest wines, it would be a mistake to ignore the surge in quality and refinement found off the beaten path. The villages in the south of France, the sun-soaked vineyards of Sicily, and the growing strength of Riesling around the world are just the tip of the iceberg. Everywhere we look, we are finding that passion has driven individuals to create something greater than they had ever expected. They created a global diversity of fine wine that opened our hearts and minds, and we are confident that it will do the same for you.
