That is, of course, until the decision was made to use these vines in the producing of Le Fleur Petrus. That said, remaining vintages of Providence are a magical experience to be had. ✦ Providence Pomerol 2009 JS 95 » $139 "A wine with a deep nose of blueberries, blackberries, dark chocolate, nutmeg and vanilla bean. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a beautiful depth of fruit. Very attractive texture to this wine." (119021) on The rise T here's a lot of excitement surrounding La Violette. The 2006 vintage marked the first production under its new owner, Catherine Péré-Vergé, and since then the climb in quality has been substantial. The property of La Violette dates back over 200 years and was always known as a great terroir, yet the wines themselves never communicated its true potential. Today, the vineyards are tended by hand, as is the sorting and removal of all stems. Their micro vinification process ensures the best results prior to blending. ✦ la violette Pomerol 2006 RP 92 » $215 "...terrific...textured, layered mouthfeel is impressive, the purity impeccable..." (100125) Modern-day Marvel l 'Evangile is one of the historic properties within Pomerol, and not much had changed throughout that 200-year history until Domaines de Rothschild purchased the property in 1999. With upgrades in the vineyard, winery and cellar, L'Evangile was elevated to a modern- day marvel, just in time for the great 2005 vintage. Its close proximity to St. Emilion and higher percentage of sand in its soil separates L'Evangile from other Pomerol, producing a bigger and richer wine. ✦ l'evangile Pomerol 2007 wS 91 » $169 "Fresh tobacco and blackberry aromas follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with polished tannins and a pretty finish. Caressing and attractive" (1005111)
