The results are focused, precise and pure expressions of Pinot Noir with great terroir transparency. There are only a handful of producers working with fruit from Le Poissenot, yet Humbert Freres certainly makes the case for this Premier Cru. Within Gevrey Chambertin, this south- facing vineyard is planted entirely to Pinot Noir. Poissenot benefits from a very unique microclimate within the Combe de Lavaux, a small valley jutting out from the Cote d'Or; with excellent exposure, along with a cooling westerly wind and alkaline soil, rich in chalk and limestone. This combination promotes a long, even growing season, where the vines are forced to struggle--digging deep for nutrients. The results are a wine of incredible character. ✦ domaine Humbert freres Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Poissenot 2012 ST 92+ » $119 "Crushed black and blue fruits lifted by violet on the nose. Saline, sappy and rich, with dark fruit, licorice and menthol flavors spreading out to saturate the palate." (1304134) TiMes are changing o nly ten years ago, the house of Bruno Clair didn't enjoy the popularity that it does today. However, times have changed and so have the tastes of critics and Burgundy lovers. Today, Bruno Clair continues to make wine in very much the same way that he did twenty years ago-- and we wouldn't want it any other way. With an impressive portfolio that could please the Cru chaser, the village lover, and even fill the niche of geeky sommelier wine, Bruno Clair strives for purity, delicacy and ageabilty throughout his entire range. In the end, Bruno Clair is on the cusp of becoming one of the great domaines of Burgundy. ✦ domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru les Cazetiers 2012 AG 94+ » $212 "Energy and grace meld together in Clair's 2012 Gevrey- Chambertin Cazetiers...In short, the 2012 has it all; gorgeous aromatics and enough density to develop for a good 25+ years."
