MORRELL FINE WINE AND SPIRITS cALL 800.96.WINES (800.969.4637) • vISIT uS AT MORRELLWINE.cOM • cOMPLIMENTARy DELIvERy ON ALL ORDERS OvER $100 IN Ny AND cT 37 ITAly: BRunellO H aving just returned from Benvenuto Brunello NYC, I found myself more excited to sit down and pen my notes than ever before. With 45 Brunello producers showing their new releases, it was impossible to taste everything, but from what I was able to work through, the outlook is fantastic. What's most impressive is how even the wines that scored in my lower range are still so beautiful and alive, easily placing them above recent vintages. Most are already showing well, yet the potential for the cellar is remarkable. Balance is the key, along with fruit intensity, which nearly masks their tannic structure. It's hard to go wrong. This is a vintage that I will go long on, as these wines are sure to improve in the cellar and in value. Eric Guido ✦ benVenuTO bRunellO 2015 gOThaM hall, n.y.c. OuR TOP Pick fROM benVenuTO bRunellO Located in the south-east of Montalcino, at an altitude of 320 meters above sea level, the Palazzo vineyards are farmed using integrated agriculture much like biodynamic. This allows the Montalcino terroir to speak clearly through their perfectly ripe fruit. Hand harvesting permits sorting in the vineyards, which in turns assures that only the best bunches make it to the winery's sorting table. After extended maceration and aging for 30-36 months in large oak casks, the Palazzo Brunello emerges as an elegant beauty of a wine. Outward and red-fruited, yet savory and grounded by earth tones. I found it difficult to put this glass down. ✦ Palazzo Brunello di Montalcino 2010 $69 per bottle "Wonderful aromas of salt, savory dried meat and red fruits. Bacon, too. Full body with chew y tannins and a long, intense fnish. It's like a tightly knit ball of cashmere thread. Superb." JS 98 (1554075) Pre-arrival
