MORRELL FINE WINE AND SPIRITS cALL 800.96.WINES (800.969.4637) • vISIT uS AT MORRELLWINE.cOM • cOMPLIMENTARy DELIvERy ON ALL ORDERS OvER $100 IN Ny AND cT 36 ITAly: BRunellO "cOnsisTenTly OuTsTanding" C analicchio di Sopra was established in 1962, firmly rooted in traditional methods, yet with a forward-thinking and innovative approach to vineyard management and practices in the cellar. With vineyards in two zones of Montalcino, providing varying exposures and soil types, Canalicchio di Sopra consistently produces a Brunello of balance and power—all the while respecting the inherent qualities of Sangiovese. You won't find heavy oak inflections here, but you will find depths of dried cherry, dark soil, leather and spice, which traditional Brunello is cherished for. ✦ Canalicchio di Sopra Brunello di Montalcino 2010 $84 per bottle "So long and beautiful. Absolutely delicious now. But will be even better in three or four years..." JS 96 (1554066) 2010 bRunellO is a suRe Thing e ven with a Riserva in their portfolio, the fact is that, at Castello di Romitorio, it's their Brunello di Montalcino which is the flagship wine and hence their top priority. It's blended from two vineyards for optimal balance ('Castello Romtiorio' in the northwest and 'Poggio di Sopra' in the southeast). At Romitorio, it is all about the best quality fruit hand-picked at perfect ripeness. This is achieved by making multiple passes through the vineyards to only pick the best bunches at the right time. Their strict selection shows through in the wine, providing us with not only a quintessential Brunello, but one which will age beautifully in the cellar—utterly classic. ✦ Castello di Romitorio Brunello di Montalcino 2010 $75 per bottle "So much Tuscan dust in the nose. You can smell the soil, not to mention the dark fruits and flowers. Full body, with firm and silky tannins and a long and intense finish. Tight and structured..." JS 94 (1554067) Pre-arrival sTRiking, POWeRful and classic A ndrea Cortonesi of Uccelliera has set himself apart as one of the top producers in Brunello who has yet to raise prices, even with praise from critics around the world. Uccelliera is located in the southern part of Montalcino, in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, which is known for producing dramatic, striking Brunello with exceptional aging potential. After partial aging in new oak, Uccelliera remains a classic expression of pure, terroir driven Sangiovese. Be sure to also pay close attention to Andrea's new project, Voliero, from the northern vineyards of Montalcino. While the Uccelliera is about power and drive, the Voliero shows the more elegant and finessed side of Brunello. ✦ Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino 2010 $62 per bottle The Uccelliera is drop-dead gorgeous in this vintage.
