MORRELL FINE WINE AND SPIRITS cALL 800.96.WINES (800.969.4637) • vISIT uS AT MORRELLWINE.cOM • cOMPLIMENTARy DELIvERy ON ALL ORDERS OvER $100 IN Ny AND cT 34 Italy: Brunello A s we've tasted through '08 and '09, the most repeated phrase to pass the lips of producers was "wait until you taste the 2010s." Now, only months away from arriving on our shores, we are given the first look into 2010 Brunello di Montalcino from James Suckling, and the outlook is grand. Suckling's enthusiasm over this vintage is apparent, calling it Montalcino's "greatest modern vintage," yet even as the reviews for 2010 Rosso di Montalcino were hitting our inboxes, all critics had the same message—if the Rosso is this good, just imagine what the Brunello will bring. The 2010 vintage in Brunello started with slightly wet and cool springtime temperatures which carried on into the summer months. Alternating sunshine and showers throughout the fall, along with mild temperatures gave growers all they needed to pick at leisure. It was a relatively late, yet healthy harvest; the resulting fruit was better than anyone could have hoped for. The 2010's present us with cool, yet powerful wines of radiant fruit, soaring aromatics and classic structure. It's a great vintage for Brunello di Montalcino. Many will drink beautifully upon release, yet age effortlessly in the cellar. What's more, 2010 puts Brunello back on the world's stage, as we are sure to see tremendous investment possibilities from the top wines of the vintage. Brunello di Montalcino may be the next Bordeaux—minus the price tag. ✦ 2010 Brunello di Montalcino availaBle For Pre-arrival rating bottle Argiano (1554065) JS 98 $55 Casanova di Neri 'Tenuta Nuova' (1554033) JS 99 $85 Casanova di Neri 'White Label' (1554062) JS 96 $55 Castiglion del Bosco (1554064) JS 96 $45 Ciacci Piccolomini (1554052) JS 94 $53 Ciacci Piccolomini 'Pianrosso' (1554053) JS 98 $75 Gaja Pieve Santa Restituta 'Rennina' (1554071) aG 95 $179 Gaja Pieve Santa Restituta 'Sugarille' (1554072) JS 97 $189 Salvioni (1154073) aG 97 $195 2010 Brunello di Montalcino availaBle For Pre-arrival rating bottle Gianni Brunelli (1554054) JS 95 $60 La Serena (1554055) JS 97 $65 Marchesi de Frescobaldi 'Castelgiocondo' (1554051) JS 97 $64 Renieri (1554061) JS 95 $39 San Filippo (1554056) JS 97 $65 Siro Pacenti 'Pelagrilli' (1554059) JS 96 $55 Voliero (1554058) JS 96 $60 Brunello di Montalcino fans have been starving for a great vintage.
