This family of winemakers has a level of intense passion that is infectious. Traditional in style, yet each Barolo showing purity of fruit, polish, notable elegance and transparency of site. Even in hot vintages, Vajra's Barolo Bricco delle Viole manages to outshine the competition. Much of this has to do with the vineyards high elevation, a huge advantage in today's world of global warming. In classic years, like 2010, it's off the charts. Their entry level offer, the Barolo Albe, remains one of the best values in Barolo vintage after vintage. Make no mistake, at $44, the Albe stands shoulder to shoulder with many producers' best wines. G.D. Vajra is a property to watch in Piedmont. ✦ G.D. Vajra is no newcomer to winemaking and Piedmont; in fact, Aldo and Milena Vaira have been making notable Barolo since the early eighties. However, it has only been in the last ten years that Vajra has received the recognition they deserve. ProduCer Profile: g.d. VajRa
