8 | MORRELL FINE WINE AND SPIRITS V ISIT u S AT MORRELLWINE .c OM cALL 800.96.WINES (800.969.4637) CHA m PAGN e a S TYL e aLL T H ei R O WN P owerful, uncompromising, complex and built on tradition, Bollinger remains the classic expression of m arnais Champagne. With an attachment to the land that goes back to the 15th century, Bollinger insists on only the highest- quality grapes within their 174 hectares of estate vineyards. o f those vineyards, 85% are classified as either Grand or Premier Cru. Pinot Noir excels here, informing the house style, adding structure and depths unseen in most Champagne. The l a Grande Annee is Bollinger's answer to prestige Champagne. A cuvee that is made only in the best vintages, and only from their Grand Cru and Premier Cru holdings. It's aged nearly twice as long as regulations require, and released only when ready. The Grande Annee represents the pinnacle of the house style and the traits of its vintage. Available only in magnum, but what better way to enjoy a great vintage Champagne? The 2004 l a Grande Annee is perfectly suited for your holiday table or cellar. ✦ Bollinger La Grande a nnee Brut 2004 (1.5L) W e 96 » $235 "...opulent and full bodied, with toast and wood flavors. Rich and ripe, this beautiful wine is generous and still young..." Roger Voss (287220) B R i NG i NG Bu RG u N d Y TO C H a MP a GN e T he l abruyère family may be new to Champagne, but wine, especially Burgundy, they know very well. As the owners of the highly-regarded Domaine l abruyère in m oulin-a- v ent, as well as Château Rouget in Pomerol and the largest shareholders of Domaine Jacques Prieur in m eursault, it was only so long before a passion for Champagne found them scouting for vineyards in the region. It started with e douard l abuyère, who began acquiring parcels in v erzenay in 2010. But not just any parcels. His eye was set on Grand Cru vineyards, and in this case, fruit that was once sold to Dom Perignon. The approach in the vineyards and the cellar follows Burgundian techniques, with a focus on single vineyards and terroir. The Prologue is an expression of Grand Cru v erzenay fruit, consisting of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, and is labeled as a non-vintage wine, yet received 90% of its juice from the 2012 vintage. e douard's goal was to create a wine of place first, with the possibility of letting the vintages speak for themselves over time. ✦ Labruyere Grand Cru Brut Prologue NV JS 92 » $39 "A more savory style… This has an array of woody spices, red fruits and spice..." James Suckling (1800143)
