xxx | 33 MORRELL FINE WINE AND SPIRITS V ISIT u S AT MORRELLWINE .c OM cALL 800.96.WINES (800.969.4637) Re CL ai M i NG Pa ST G LORY The history of Olivier Leflaive started as far back as the early 18th century. a t the core, the family thrived as land owners and négociants, yet in 1984, Olivier and Patrick Leflaive decided to start their own négociant business, leaving control of the family vineyards under contract with d omaine Leflaive–that contract ended in 2010. T oday, o livier and Patrick l eflaive have regained full control over their portion of the family's prestigious holdings, choosing to keep the farming 100% biodynamic, just as Domaine l eflaive had maintained them for many years prior. These holdings are within many of Burgundy's greatest Premier and Grand Crus–yet none resonate more with us than the Grand Cru Batard m ontrachet. The l eflaive parcel within Batard m ontrachet is only 1 ⁄ 5 of an acre, which hosts vines that average over 48 years old. This small production of fruit is tended to with tremendous care, from the vineyard and into the cellar, where the wine is then refined in both barrel and tank. The result is a Grand Cru White Burgundy of stunning depth and richness, showcasing its terroir, and wonderfully balanced by the signature of the amazing 2014 vintage. ✦ Olivier Leflaive Batard Montrachet Grand Cru 2014 WS 95 » $550 "Elegant… Balanced, building to a sleek, citrus-, stone- and spice-filled aftertaste. Shows tremendous focus." Bruce Sanderson (138004)
