These are the vines that produce a style which has defined the region. However, for the Perez Pascuas brothers of v ina Pedrosa, the dynamic is quite different. The Pedrosa winery is located in the hills above the village of Pedrosa de Duero, with panoramic views of the surrounding region. It's a location that enjoys its own distinct microclimate with a considerable shift from warm sun-drenched days to cold, dry nights. This combination creates a long growing season, which allows Tempranillo to gain amazing depth, perfect ripeness and stunning mineral-laden acidity. The l a Navilla Riserva is the flagship wine of the estate, sourced from vines that are up to 60 years old, with naturally low yields, benefiting from the personal attention that this boutique producer insists upon. Jorge m onzon founded Dominio del Aguila in 2010, after a decade of slowly acquiring his 30 hectares of high elevation, old vine parcels. Through that time he worked with Arzuaga-Navarro, Domaine Romanée-Conti and v ega Sicilia, all the while selling the grapes from his own vines to the who's who of Ribera del Duero. Today, the Dominio del Aguila Reserva is Jorge's flagship bottling from sites at an altitude of 800-900 meters. It's here that vines of over 85 years of age are grown in soils of sand and rocky clay. Primarily produced from Tempranillo with a small amount of Bobal and Albillo, these grapes are hand-tended, trodden by foot, and fermented whole-cluster.
