| 113 MORRELL FINE WINE AND SPIRITS V ISIT u S AT MORRELLWINE .c OM cALL 800.96.WINES (800.969.4637) ITA l Y : Tu SCANY a Se CON d Wi N e N O L ONG e R O rnellaia was created in 1985 by m archese l odovico Antinori, who wanted to take advantage of the terroir that Sassicaia had already proven ideal for Bordeaux varieties. o ver time, the winery changed hands, being taken over by m archesi de' Frescobaldi, as did the winemaking, when Axel Heinz came on board. His creation of a third wine allowed l e Serre Nuove to show its full potential. Today, Alex doesn't even see l e Serre Nuove as a second wine. Instead, he uses the label to create a unique expression from o rnellaia that can be enjoyed younger. The fruit for l e Serre Nuove comes from the same parcels, tended to with the same attention to detail, from start to finish, as o rnellaia. The only difference occurs when barrels are selected and blends are refined. As for the 2015, the wine is gorgeous today, but due to the classic vintage, it's capable of aging and improving for well over a decade. This is a vintage of l e Serre Nuove that you will not want to miss. ✦ Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia 2015 VM 94 » $68 "... All of the Ornellaia signatures come through... The 2015 is a stunning Serre Nuove..." Antonio Galloni (1555211) G O i NG aG ai NST T H e G R ai N M ontevertine is one of Tuscany's elite producers, who pioneered the idea of producing 100% varietal Sangiovese that could compete with the greatest wines of the world. In the 1970's the regulations of the Chianti Classico consortium insisted on adding a mix of varieties, both red and white, into every bottle produced. However, believing that the Sangiovese growing on his small farm could create a wine of serious depth and substance, Sergio m anetti of m ontevertine decided to back out of the consortium. History was made as l e Pergole Torte, considered a Super Tuscan, went on to become one of the top examples of 100% Sangiovese in the region. Currently in the hands of m artino m anetti, m ontevertine continues to be the benchmark for Tuscan Sangiovese, just as l e Pergole Torte maintains its icon status. ✦ Montevertine Le Pergole Torte 2014 VM97 » $119 (750ml) » $275 (1.5L) "...Possesses striking depth, nuance and pliancy...cinnamon and pomegranate infuse this super-expressive, sexy Pergole Torte." Antonio Galloni (750ml 1555196 / 1.5L 2555196)
