His creation of a third wine allowed l e Serre Nuove to show its full potential. Today, Alex doesn't even see l e Serre Nuove as a second wine. Instead, he uses the label to create a unique expression from o rnellaia that can be enjoyed younger. The fruit for l e Serre Nuove comes from the same parcels, tended to with the same attention to detail, from start to finish, as o rnellaia. The only difference occurs when barrels are selected and blends are refined. As for the 2015, the wine is gorgeous today, but due to the classic vintage, it's capable of aging and improving for well over a decade.
